14e Gebruikerstoernooi te Leiden, Denksportcentrum

Het was weer eens een gezellig weekend in het Denksportcentrum in Leiden. Het 14e Gebruikerstoernooi bracht weer eens een gezelschap op de been die het ouderwetse schaakcomputergevoel bij menigeen deed herleven. Acht schaakcomputers sommigen uit de stoffige kast gehaald andere nog regelmatig in gebruik kruisten de degens om die fel begeerde eer van het winnen van de Jan Louwman bekers. Iedere keer slaagt Theo van der Storm er weer in om een ander formaat beker te vinden, want al vanaf het 1e Gebruikerstoernooi verzorgd hij deze voorziening. Hans van Mierlo was bereid om twee schaakcomputers te bedienen. Winnaar werd verrassend De Turbo King 1 van Hans van Mierlo. Met zeven uit zeven was hij iedereen de baas. De Avant Garde 2100 op 5 MHz werd tweede met vijf en een halve punt. Dit programma was veertien dagen geleden in Kaufbeuren open Duits kampioen geworden maar wist in Leiden de Nederlandse titel niet te bemachtigen! Opvallend was het goede spel van bij vlagen goed spelende Challenger 7. Dit programma uit 1979 wist maar één punt te scoren maar deed dit op zo'n overtuigende wijze dat alle aanwezigen al een bod deden bij Alfons Termaat om dit wonder over te nemen. Tijdens dit toernooi liet hij drie maal een pion promoveren tot Dame!, gaf in alle partijen goed partij tot ver in het eindspel en bleek een openbaring in dit toernooi. Ook de MM I met het op 8 MHz draaiende Mephisto 3 programma liet bij vlagen zien uit het goede hout gesneden te zijn. Een totaal andere speelstijl als in de kleine "briket" kastjes. De Super Enterprise stelde zeker niet teleur. Met een 50% score voldeed hij volledig aan de verwachtingen en in de laatst partij sloeg hij de Koningsverdediging van de MM I volledig uit elkaar met een aansluitend mat. Zeker weer een geslaagd toernooi.Hans van Mierlo die de eerste en tweede plaats bezette wilde de beker voor de tweede plaats niet hebben en deze werd toen aan Theo Heukels gegeven. De derde plaats kwam toen in handen van Walther Kappelhof die eigenlijk als vierde was geëindigd. Bravo hulde aan Hans voor deze geste!! Ook dank aan Joop Hooglugt die de zaterdag de MM II voor Theo Heukels bediende Hulde! Het 15e Gebruikerstoernooi zal in het voorjaar van 2007 worden gespeeld en dan worden er twee groepen gevormd met in groep A de allersterkste en in Groep B de minder sterke computers.

15e Gebruikerstoernooi: 19-20 mei 2007

Alweer voor de 15e keer werd dit tafelschaakcomputertoernooi georganiseerd in Leiden. Het deelnemersveld wordt minder. Jammer, want om het toernooi doorgang te laten vinden zullen er minimaal acht deelnemers mee moeten doen. Dit maal was er gekozen voor een toernooi met de sterkste schaakcomputers. Voor Ruud Martin was het de gelegenheid om zijn Revelation computer aan het publiek te tonen. Ook de prestaties worden nauwlettend gevolgd. Twee Resurrections deden er mee, waarbij Hein Veldhuis de tweede dag speelde met de Resurrection 2 die is uitgevoerd met een 473 MHz XScale processor. Deze rekenmonsters hadden het toch nog moeilijk doordat ze een aantal halfjes morsten. De Berlin Pro speelde goed. Moest alleen zijn meerdere erkennen tegen de rekenmonsters. Tegen Rybka lukte het bijna om er een remise uit te slepen. De klok gooide echter roet in het eten. In het onderlinge treffen met de London Pro bleef de Berlin de sterkste te zijn door een beter eindspel te spelen. De Magellan speelt soms goed soms minder. Een overwinning op Rybka mag er wezen. De Star Daimond werd laatste en dat werd ook verwacht. De Wereldkampion de Elite V11 werd zesde, een tegenvallend resultaat. Volgens de eigenaar Hans van Mierlo speelt het programma alleen maar 1.e4 openingen goed. Maar daar wordt je toch geen Wereldkampioen mee?  We gaan de ronden eens langs ....
